A sentence that starts with “I” or “me” or “I am” is a statement. It is not inherently a problem. It is a way to assert a point. The reason I am writing this is because I know that I can no longer speak or hear words without feeling the need to do so. When I started writing this post, I was struggling with a lot of self-awareness.
It is this need to speak and hear in a manner that is inherently unsettling, uncomfortable, and impossible to say. I am beginning to realize that I don’t really need to say these things, that it is simply a need that I have and a way to assert myself. When I say that I am writing this post, I feel that I am actually asserting myself.
A man named Adrian Dennison believes that self-awareness is a necessary part of creativity. He claims that if we don’t know ourselves, then we can’t create. That is, we must continually discover and ask ourselves questions, questions that we can’t speak or hear without having to experience the discomfort of self-awareness.
I guess this is why I liked the movie. The character of Adrian Dennison was a guy who knew that he was, in fact, a man. This is how Adrian Dennison said, “I have a body, I have a mind, I have a soul, I have a mind of my own, and I can change it” – just before he died.
I don’t think I’ve ever really said “I have a body, I have a mind, I have a soul, I have a mind of my own, and I can change it.” I’ve said this sort of “I have a head, I have a heart, and I have a body” over and over. I guess this is why I like the movie.
Like I said, I love the movie, but I think Adrian Dennison is more than a mere movie character. He’s the real-life-in-the-future-of-an-old-guy-who-knows-that-he’s-a-man.
When we first meet Colt, he says he was a bodyguard for eight Visionaries, who are named after famous figures in the world of science fiction and fantasy. Then he wakes up one day, he doesn’t know why, and he’s lost. Then an AI comes and tells him to do this, to change himself back into a bodyguard and go kill the Visionaries.
A lot of the time the movie seems like the writer is being a little wacky, but I’ve always liked the idea of this particular timeline. We know that the Visionaries have been using time-looping for quite some time, but they’ve never told us what exactly is going on. We don’t know they’re doing time-looping to kill the humans, but we do know they are doing it to kill the Visionaries so they can become immortal.
The movie seems to be playing with time-looping in a lot of ways. The Visionaries have a large set of rules, and you cant change any of them without killing everybody. But in the movie, the Visionaries can change themselves, but not in a way that would stop time. They can take the bodies of people who have joined the Visionaries to change themselves. That allows them to change the rules again without killing anybody.
The movie also shows us a lot about what happens when you take over a time-looping game. The idea that you can change time is really important to the time-looping games we’re familiar with, especially the ones that have a strict set of time periods and rules. This movie seems to be going way beyond that, and it’s really making me feel like I’ve been playing the game for years.
