The last few days I have been listening to a lot of podcasts. I am always drawn to podcasts that talk about a specific topic that interests me. A couple of the podcasts that I like most are ones that discuss mindfulness and how we can start to learn more about ourselves.
I’m not going to lie, I like the first episode of herion nod pretty well. It’s a podcast about how to better recognize when our mind is full of clutter and what we can do about it. It’s a bit of a self-help book to be sure, but I can get behind the idea that we can change the way our mind thinks if we pay more attention to how we think.
I think there are a lot of different ways to improve our sense of self awareness. The most fun one for me is to get a sense of what kind of mind we are by putting ourselves in the shoes of a person who is experiencing similar emotions (or the other way around). For example, I have a tendency to get into rages a lot. I know that I am highly irritable and out of control and that is something that I want to change.
This is exactly what the herion technique does, as it takes you inside the mind of a person experiencing similar emotions to help you see what is going on in them. It helps you to take the perspective of a person who is “falling apart” and help you to re-evaluate your own state of mind.
In the case of herion, the technique is very similar to the one that we discussed earlier: you use a mirror to look at your own self. This method is also helpful for people who have trouble seeing themselves clearly in certain respects, such as if they take a lot of photos out in public.
herion does not use a mirror. Instead, he uses a computer monitor and a small camera to observe himself and see how he is reacting to his surroundings. He also takes a small piece of paper and writes down all the things he observes and then compares this with what is happening in his mind. This is the same process the Japanese use to see if they are getting off track when they are depressed.
This is a pretty old technology that he uses, but in the new trailer they show how he can see what he is doing and track where he is moving himself with his mind.
I have to admit, watching the Japanese use this is pretty cool, and it’s something I’ve wanted to try for years. It’s like a mental GPS for people who are really depressed.
And like a GPS, it has the ability to see you where you might be going, so you can use it to track your movements. And as you can imagine, this can be quite helpful in tracking your depression if you don’t want to go back to your old habits.
I don’t know if you can read Japanese, but the Japanese translation of the word herion is a little bit different than the English translation. The Japanese word herion is a combination of the words sheen and aion, with the latter referring to light. So the Japanese word for light is aion. So in herion’s case, that would be the sun. So there’s a little bit of a puzzle here.
