Are You Getting the Most Out of Your bible verse on taking care of yourself?

by Radhe

I have several more specific Bible verses that I can’t quite remember, but this one is always on my list of favorite verses: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more.” (Matthew 7:21) I was going to say that I don’t think I’ll ever kill the body, but I do have to say that I would like to see the body of the person who killed me.

The Bible is not that kind of book. God has a lot of rules, and just because you do something wrong doesn’t mean you have to pay for it. I know there are some Christians who would argue that Jesus didn’t take good care of himself, but I don’t think thats the point. God’s grace is a kind of forgiveness that doesn’t come with a price tag.

I think God is pretty forgiving, but He also doesn’t want people to have to pay for their wrongdoings. I think, at the end of the day, when He created us He knew that we would screw up without Him noticing. He knew that our sins would continue to cause the death and suffering of others, so He also knew that we would keep going back to Him to get them done.

God is a pretty forgiving God, but He seems to want people to keep paying for what they do. He doesn’t want us to be just a human being but to be more like Jesus. He wants to do something good for us, but He also wants us to do something good for others.

The Bible seems to encourage believers to take care of themselves. Just like Jesus said, we should look out for ourselves and be self-controlled. If we are really sick, we should seek medical care. If we’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, we should seek physical therapy. Our bodies were created for the purpose of living. It wouldn’t be right for us to just give up on our bodies when we’re sick.

Self-care is a pretty crucial part of being a Christian and I think that we can all agree that it’s a very important part. But the Bible also seems to encourage us to be more self-aware of our lives because it says in Ephesians that we should “tend to one another” and that is a pretty significant statement.

So what about physical therapy? We all know that it can help us in various ways including the obvious ones of pain management and muscle and joint strengthening. Plus, the idea is that we can get our bodies ready to take on a new challenge and grow stronger. But the Bible also seems to suggest that its even more important to take care of ourselves because of the many ways we can be injured.

As a physical therapist, I don’t always get the attention to how much I worry about my own health these days. It’s important to me to know that I don’t have to live with the thought that I’m going to be hurt in one way or another. It’s easy to go overboard and think that it’s a bad thing to risk being hurt by something that could happen in any given moment.

For many people who have worked with people on their own physical bodies, they might not be able to tell one person to take care of themselves from the other. That’s because the bodies of both parties are so very different. And because they are, the more we try to take care of ourselves the more we risk injuring ourselves.

I know this makes no sense, but I think there’s a good reason why people make this mistake.
