I am not talking about the current internet infrastructure; we need to look at the information infrastructure we developed, which we refer to as the information mis infrastructure, or MIS. Most of us are probably not in the habit of checking our email, social media feeds, or our social media timelines.
In the Information Mis Infrastructure, a network of computers, servers, and devices are connected together to create a centralized network of computers that cannot be accessed individually. This network of computers creates a single point of failure, a single point of vulnerability, which can be exploited to provide an attacker with the ability to manipulate your computer to make it do things that you do not want it to.
This is sort of an ironic example because as far as we know, email, social media, and social media feeds are all very similar. All of them allow you to share information with others via the social graph. But this doesn’t mean you should be sharing information with people that you don’t want to share information with. You should only share information that you are certain that the recipient really wants to see or that you think is relevant to the topic that you’re sharing with them.
Ok, so what about the social media feed that allows you to share your location with others? Well, it does allow you to share your location with people. But that doesnt mean you should be sharing location with people you dont want to share location with.
To the contrary, this is a good thing. You want to share information you know other people want to know, but you dont want them to know you know it, or that you know that they know it. As soon as you share this information you are no longer a person who is sharing information. You are now a person who is sharing information that you dont want other people to know.

But it also means this is a great way to find information, and not an information mis infrastructure. If you dont want people to find you have something to share with them, then dont share it with them. If you dont want people to find you have something to share with you, then dont share it with them.
We are not talking about using the internet like a public library. We are not talking about using the internet like a public library, it is a public resource. When you are the owner of a website, you have the right to control the information that is shared with other people. You can control what information gets published, what information is displayed, who gets it, and what information goes into or out of your website. The best thing to do is go to the source.
If you are going to use a web site for public access, then you need to make sure that no one can edit it. You need to control who is allowed to have access to what information. You also need to make sure that there are standards for the information that is shared to prevent it from being abused. We are not talking about using a public library for this either, it is a public resource.
