I have had this problem plenty of times in my life, but the way you can get it is to say things like, “I feel like I’m doing something wrong,” or “I’m not doing something right,” or “I just feel stupid,” etc. This is so much easier than it sounds.

If you say, I feel like I’m not doing something right, your brain will automatically search for something else to be doing. While we’re at it, say, I just feel stupid. A lot of people get stuck in this mode by simply repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Self-ligating is something that people often do. But if you’re looking for a quick fix, you might do better to just start another task. You can say, I just feel stupid. Then your brain will actually search for something else to be doing.

It’s a good idea to try and find something to do that you aren’t already doing, though. You might even start with something simple like “I need to get out of my chair.” That way, you’re not distracted by other things you might be doing. You might even say, I just feel stupid.
