Have you ever had the feeling or thought, ‘I have no idea what I’m doing.’ Or, ‘I don’t know how to do it.’ Or, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to feel about it.’ Or, ‘I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,’ when you are in a situation.
Sometimes we feel like, “Yes, I have no clue what Im doing,” but then other times, we are aware of what this is about, and we find that it is actually about us. We are aware of what Im doing, because we understand what Im going through, and we understand how we can help ourselves. But it does not mean that we are aware of everything going on around us.
It’s a common misconception that reflection activities are about a person’s feelings. They are not. They are about our ability to understand how we feel, and how we can use the information to help ourselves. In other words: they are about being in control.
Reflective activities are activities that we are performing to learn about or cope with our emotions. The most common form of reflection is meditation, which focuses on our emotions. Meditation can also be a way of focusing on our feelings by looking at something else, such as a picture, a song, or a video.
Reflective activities are not, in and of themselves, self-aware activities. The purpose of reflective activities is to make us aware of how we feel. Sometimes, they can also be used to cope with the emotional responses that we might be getting from our environment. For example, if you are feeling anxious, you might sit down with a video of a movie and sit there really uncomfortable. You might also sit down and watch a song that makes you feel happy.
To my mind, reflective activities are a wonderful way for us to become aware of how we feel when we become aware of what we feel instead of what we experience. We might watch a movie or listen to a song or video and then realize that what we are feeling is not necessarily how we expect it to feel. We might feel really happy or sad or angry and realize that that is what we actually feel.
It all depends on what you’re going to do to reflect, but I think that reflective activities are a great way to really shift out of the habitual patterns that we have and let ourselves truly feel what we are experiencing. We might listen to a song that makes us feel good or we might read a book. We might even make a mental note about something that we are feeling and be really aware of how we are feeling at each time.
I love to write and I also love to read. I find reflection a great way to connect to both of these things. I look forward to reading the books I have on my wishlist, and I recently read the book “What Color is Your Parachute?” by Mary Boas. It is written in the third person and tells the story of the man who was born with a purple coat but couldn’t fly.
I’m not sure what it is about reflection that I appreciate more, but I like to read. I feel like I am getting more and more reflective as I grow up–I am an older version of the person I was when I was in third grade. I take more notice of my feelings and thoughts as I grow older, and as a result I’m able to notice these things more easily.
In reflection, we are able to see ourselves in ways that most people are not able to perceive. We are able to see the things we can’t see in ourselves, which helps us know them better. We are able to see our own feelings, hopes, dreams, and insecurities from a slightly different perspective. We see a reflection of ourselves in someone else’s eyes, which is why reflection is sometimes called “looking in the mirror.
