quantitative finance rutgers

by Radhe

I recently wrote a blog post on the three levels of self-awareness that I have been experiencing over the past nine months.

It was a really tough period for me. I was just coming off of a really bad period of depression. The difference between a depression and a period of depression is that the former is almost always temporary. We are constantly “recovering” from it, getting better.

Yes, but the difference is that it’s usually not that bad and the good news is that you don’t have to spend your entire life feeling depressed. You can just sit back and enjoy the ride without having to be constantly motivated to get out of bed in the morning.

One of the things that makes quantitative finance so fun is that there are so many variables. You can’t have a long-term relationship with your money without having to worry about your balance. You can’t maintain the same level of financial responsibility without having to adjust to your new financial circumstances. You can’t manage your investments without having to deal with volatility. You can’t be your own boss without being constantly motivated to get out of bed in the morning.

This is what makes it so fun. You can do all of these things at the same time and not have to worry about any one of them. Of course, like most things, this makes them a little more complicated to manage. If you have a good enough book that does all the math for you, then you are good at managing your money, but if you read another book and have to do the math, then you’ll have a lot of issues to contend with.
