I’ve been thinking a lot this past year about making changes in my life and the things that have occurred to me. There have been a lot of things that have occurred that I’ve been thinking about and then writing them down and putting those notes in a journal. It’s also a great reminder of why we often feel in the dumps, depressed, or anxious when we’re not doing anything that’s easy or fun or enjoyable.
The good news is that your journal will become the focal point of your day, and will be the first place you look to remind you of what makes you happy. A journal is a great way to find the creative juices flowing and get in the habit of thinking about what you want to do, or see, in the day.
You may want to look at your own journal, too, as we’ve found that a few journal prompts can be a terrific way to start your day. For instance, you may want to start your day with a journal prompt that says something like, “I’m going to be thinking about what I did today that made me happy.” Or you may get a prompt like “I’m going to be thinking about what I want to do today.
