Even if you only see one item in the produce section that is guaranteed to be perishable, make sure you buy enough to last you for the entire week.

My favorite grocery store is my local Whole Foods. The produce section in particular is fantastic. I have a list of all the items I need to buy and what they are in the produce section.

I go through each item I buy and then write a note about how much of the item I will eat. I then go through the produce section and mark the items that I need to eat. I also buy the non-perishable items (so they are non-perishable, too) and mark each one. I always mark the non-perishable items first because they are cheaper, but they don’t have as much shelf life as the perishable items.
