I think we’ve all heard of the tragic statistic that one out of five people will die in a year. That means that every day, someone is dying. So, the question is, is there anything we can do to change this? It can be hard to think about the problem of a death, especially if you’re surrounded by people who are dying.
This video, in which Dr. Martin Shkreli talks about his efforts to “shrink the AIDS epidemic by creating a medicine that would kill every person with HIV before they were 50 years old.” is an interesting read, but what really caught my attention was the fact that he refers to his own death as an “alive” death.
I don’t know about you, but when I think about my own death and the time that passes between my death and my death, I feel it a little bit like a movie where the characters are all asleep. I guess I’m sort of in the same boat as Mr. Shkreli, although I’m probably the last one who will be dying by the time he’s 50.
The guy who invented the world’s first AIDS vaccine and was vilified for it, is now working on a vaccine to kill off all the HIV-positive people on Earth before they die. That’s because there’s a huge market for someone to make a vaccine that can kill off the HIV-positive people who are already dying off. There’s no way to predict when they will, but the market for such a vaccine is huge.
That market is huge, but the problem is that the vaccine has already been made and its been tested. So the death rate from the vaccine is high, but when it comes to getting the vaccine to be effective, there is no way to know. The current vaccine works by infecting the body of a HIV-positive person, which then starts to kill off other HIV-positive people. The problem is, there are millions of HIV-positive people on Earth.
That’s why it’s important to look at the entire population so we can make sure that we are not killing off many HIV-positive people. The problem is, if we only look at people who tested positive, we are only killing off those people who are dying from the infection. And if we look at people who are dying from the infection, we’re also killing off those people who are just as well.
